Notifications: What BestWebby Tells You, and How

The events you are told about in the dashboard, by email and on your phone, what is on by default, and how each person on your team chooses.

Overview

When something in your store needs you, BestWebby tells the owner, admins and managers in the dashboard's Notifications feed, by email, or both. Each of them chooses for themselves under Settings → Notifications; until they do, the defaults below apply.

Notifications are part of every plan.

The same thing is not repeated: a second notification of the same kind about the same order, product or domain within an hour is folded into the first.

Orders

You are told whenEmail by default
A new order is placed online or at the tillNo
A return was requestedNo
A shipment could not be created: buying a label failed, or the carrier reports a delivery problemNo
An email to a customer was not sent: a shipping, delivery, invoice or quote email could not go out, usually because your store has no email domain of its own yet, or the address is on the do-not-email list. The order's timeline, or the invoice's or quote's history, shows whichYes
A till sale could not be recorded after it was rung up offlineYes
EasyPost rejected your API key: parcels, return parcels and supplier deliveries stop being tracked, and shoppers get no delivery emails, until you paste a working key in Settings → Shipping, where the connection shows as failingYes

Money

You are told whenEmail by default
A payment failed at checkoutYes
A payment was disputed, and when a dispute response is due soonYes
A refund was issued in Stripe directly, and the order was updated to matchYes
A sale or refund is missing from your Stripe Tax records: Stripe Tax could not record it after several tries, or it needs a person (for example a refund in another currency). Only when automatic tax is onYes
A payout failed: money could not be sent to your bankYes
Your store stopped taking card payments: Stripe turned card payments off on your account, or it was disconnected. The notice lists what Stripe is asking forYes
Card payments are on againYes
A subscription renewal failedYes
A storefront cannot charge your prices: it charges in a different currency from your store currency, so checkout refused a basket there, or Subscribe & Save renewals are on hold and nothing is charged. At most once a day per storefront for checkout, once a day for renewals. Fix it in Channels → Sites; see Storefront pricesYes
Your sales to Québec reached 80% or 100% of CA$30,000 over 12 months, the point at which a business in Canada outside Québec is expected to register for the QST. Information, not tax advice; see Selling to QuébecYes

Customers

You are told whenEmail by default
A customer sent a message from your storefront's contact formYes
A review needs moderatingNo
A data or deletion request arrives from a shopperYes
Your chat could not answer a shopperYes

Store health

You are told whenEmail by default
A store is ready to publish: its domain, certificate and email are set up. It stays offline until you switch it on; see Going liveYes
A domain or certificate problemYes
A webhook endpoint was turned off after repeated failed deliveriesYes
A sales channel stopped syncingYes
A product sold outYes
A product is running lowNo
A listing was taken off sale by the automatic check, saying what kind of problem it found and how to fix it; see Managing productsYes
A listing photo may show a different product. The listing stays on saleNo
A held listing was reviewed: approved or rejectedYes
An SMS broadcast stopped part-way, for example because your Phone & SMS credit ran out, or it has been stuck for 20 minutes. The texts not sent yet wait until you resume it from Marketing → SMSYes

Bookings, offers and auctions, Network Search suppliers, social listening, time off, dialer callbacks and BestWebby support each have their own notifications too; their guides describe them.

Choosing how you hear

Go to Settings → Notifications. Each kind of notification has In app, Email and Push boxes; tick the ones you want. Your choices do not change anyone else's. Push sends a browser notification to a phone or computer once you have turned it on for that browser on the same page. It is off by default except for a shopper your chat could not answer. If Push alerts stop reaching your browser, for example because the browser stopped accepting notifications, a notice on the same page says how many were missed in the last 7 days; turn notifications on again in that browser to clear it.

Notification emails go to your own sign-in email address.
